Kew Gardens
Looking towards the temperate house. The first signs of Autumn are now appearing in foliage, breaking up the greens which are the landscape painter's bane. This part of the garden was filled with hawthorns and crab apples. Would be nice to paint the blossom in spring here too.

A couple of iPhone sketches
The colour calibration of my iPhone is pretty warm. -these sketches look too cool on my laptop screen. I'm not going to try to adjust them though - too much hassle for something so small.

iPad plein air sketching
I recently bought an iPad, and have been getting to grips with the Brushes app. Here's a sketch completed this afternoon.
There are so many advantages to outdoor sketching with an iPad - no kit to carry -endless canvases, paint and clean brushes - no wet paintings to carry home, and if someone nosy walks past you can pretend to be reading your emails!

Diana Armfield on Making a Mark blog
Interesting + informative post about Diana Armfield - an artist whose work I admire. I'm amazed to find that she's in her nineties - really hope I'm still painting at that age!
